This is what the battle of the bands is going to sound like!

So I just listened to all of the bands that made the Battle of the Bands list and now I am pissed off. The best band is definitly Adelynne(YA! Josh and Steve!) The other bands are all plain, bar band, jazz-rock-fusion suck bands! Well I guess that the Vandon Arms are good ole punk, so I’ll let that slide. I am sooooo freakin mad that we (ATA) are not able to play! Hopefully people stay around for Saliva (who I actually don’t mind), because odds are better to none that anyone who tries to attend the battle of the bands will:
a) Fall Asleep
b) Leave to go drink, understandably so
c) Actually enjoy it because most people at college have no music taste
d) Arrive, see that no one is there, check it out, determine that it sucks, and finally leave.
(choice d happens in an average time of 5.84 seconds according to ME)

So I just got back from walking around outside, there is a storm brewin! Now I am not quite so mad.

Maybe it’s not as bad as I thought. Maybe there wouldn’t be that many people there, so it doesn’t matter.

NOPE! It’s freakin VEISHA!!! OF COURSE THERE WILL BE PEOPLE THERE!!! Argh!

Please, go to veishea.iastate.edu/music/bob/index.html and listen to the media player they have.

Then sit and wonder why and how so many un-original bands can be at the same place!

Peace

so, after having to go to great lengths to find the Veishea jukebox. you were quite harsh. I especially am going to have to disagree with you and your comparison to jazz-rock-fusion. Have you ever listened to jazz-fusion?

Ok. I’ll agree with you that there really are some quite sucky bands playing here, there are bright spots that you’ve overlooked. Jade Lea stuck out, although they begin their song with some obviously super shallow lyrics. Snafu had a sweet soul thing going on. The Blend had a lot of really cool background instruments going on, and just a really tight overall sound. The only band that I thought was downright annoying was Caligra, and the Vandon Arms if their lyrics weren’t so hilarious. Also, the bands coming up next Thursday night sound like they could put up quite an interesting show. Especially The Silent Years.

While I have to agree with you on the originality point, you kind of have to let that slide on the local scale. I think you are a little overly biased to your friend’s band, who really isn’t that original either, but you like them anyway. See my point? Sorry I accidentally wrote a blog for your comment.

i think your comment is ironic because you were the one saying how bad the show was going to be. although i do think i ended the comment a little sourly. what i meant to say is that Ames is primed and ready for a hardcore meets alternative musical revolution!
